Prague is a gorgeous city. Palaces, castles, awesome restaurants and some of the best hotels of Europe are here. One needs several days to explore this treasure of a city. The Boscolo hotel can be found here, it belongs to a small chain of luxury hotels from Italy, but as such it has been included in the Autograph Collection of Marriott. We had the recent opportunity of spending three great days in this beautiful property.
The location of the hotel is excellent, just steps from everything one wants to enjoy in Prague. It is easy to reach any point of the city using the tram system or the metro that is only three minutes away walking from the hotel. The first impression if that of arriving to a palace belonging to some aristocratic family. The exterior of the building is stunning and in very good shape. This is a construction more than one hundred years old, it used to house the Czech Bank. The lobby is even more impressive with very high ceilings, golden paintings and beautiful decorations. Check- in was a little slow. There are three desks in the reception and it was kind of hard to figure out which one to approach, once we were able to start the check-in, the process in itself was very friendly. We were offered one of the premium rooms, but were informed that it would take around 2 hours to be ready. It seems we arrived to the hotel in very high season. We were invited to go to the spa to await for the room.
The Spa is another fantastic area of the hotel, it is in the basement. It is not frequent to find such amazing facilities in a city hotel. There is a big swimming pool with different jets, relaxation areas, steam bath, plunge pool and sauna. Fruits and water are offered the whole day through. There is as well a Gym with machines in excellent condition the only sad part is that the gym is too small. Besides of that, once again we have to admit how pleased we were with the spa.
Our room was ready punctually and was worth the wait. We were given a beautiful room with very high ceilings, a huge chandelier, paintings all around, something luxurious but at the same time familiar. It transmits the feeling of being the guests at a royal event. The service was excellent. Everything we requested was delivered punctually, and the personnel were always friendly and courteous. One fact that did not bother us, but we understand it can be the source of problems for others is the noise of the trams and the cars from the street. Most locals in Prague are accustomed to such noise, but for others it can be bothersome. Anyway we have to say that we had an excellent nights sleep.
Breakfast was served in the New York Café, just next to the main restaurant. The options offered for the first meal of the day were of great variety, perfect freshness and top quality. The restaurant claims the fame of being one of the best Italian restaurants of the city, we were not able to pay a visit to it because it was closed during our stay.
We truly enjoyed our stay in the Boscolo hotel, it is a property in very good shape and full of beautiful corners such as the cigar bar that is located on the first floor in the former vault of the bank. We do not hesitate to recommend this hotel, especially to those who want to stay close to the happenings of the city, but want to be able to enjoy a luxurious lodging with excellent facilities.
